During NAPTE Explora Films will primiere worldwide its last production, “Tuaregs, The Warriors of the Dunes” (1 x 52’). This documentary will take us to one of the most hostile habitats of the planet: the grand Sahara desert, to meet the Touaregs, the feudal lords who dominate this immense territory. They are an untamed people, impossible to subjugate. Their strict rules, where honour and hospitality are among the main ones, determine the life of their different tribes. “Rhinoceroses, The Curse of the Magic Horn” continues its successful career on the wildlife festivals calendar. After ending up as finalist in the Italian Festival “Stambecco d’Oro” and being nominated as best wildlife documentary by Méningoute Festival, in France; this documentary, produced by Explora Films and directed by Fernando González-Sitges, has just achieved the Best Spanish Production award by Telenatura Festival 2012. “The Lord of Sipan”, the most ambitious Spanish Archaeology documentary film about the tomb of this ruler found in the North of Peru in 1987, has achieved an important award by The Archaeology Channel Film Festival (TAC). The audience of the festival has chosen this film as their favourite among all the contestants that participated in the official section, last May 8-12. “The Archaeology Channel International Film and Video Festival” celebrated this year its 9th edition at the Shedd Institute in Eugene, Oregon (USA). 25 different films from different nationalities such as USA, Autralia, China, Canada, Taiwan or the UK, among others, were selected to run the official selection of this year. “La Joya and the warriors in the mist”, a documentary directed by Jose Manuel Novoa about the Chachapoya culture in Peru, has just been awarded as the Best Archaeological Documentary by AGON Film Festival, a prize shared with the French production “Gergovia” by David Geoffroy. This film festival, run from the 8th to the 13th of May in Athens, Greece, put together a selection of more than 50 titles from diverse nationalities such as the U.S.A, Italy, France, Germany, Greece or Australia. The Meeting of Archaeological Films of the Mediterranean… and beyond AGON has just released the titles that will compete in the official section. This year, the festival celebrates its 9th edition in Athens, Greece, from the 8th till the 13th of May. 50 titles from different nationalities, as Greece, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Jordan, Armenia, Kuwait, Poland or Spain, among others have been selected. The festival received 130 works from 23 different countries, and the jury of the festival, made both or experts in the archaeological field and in the film business, have selected two productions by Explora Films as finalist as the best documentary film in Archaeology. Explora Films team has finished the postproduction of the documentary “The Celtic Legacy” directed by Jose Manuel Novoa. It is an ambitious project in coproduction with RTVE and Canal Historia and with the support of “Fundación Ciudad da cultura de Galicia” and “Xunta de Galicia”. The project has run for a whole year among preproduction, shooting and postproduction. The filming took place during a month in several natural locations in Galicia, besides historical settlement in France, Scotland and Ireland. It brings the audience to the times of one of the oldest and enigmatic civilizations of Europe.: the Celtics. For the historical recreations different sets were built, as a village in the beginning of the Bronze Age, and more that 200 extras perform daily activities in the old settlements in the northeast of Spain.
