The Meeting of Archaeological Films of the Mediterranean… and beyond AGON has just released the titles that will compete in the official section. This year, the festival celebrates its 9th edition in Athens, Greece, from the 8th till the 13th of May. 50 titles from different nationalities, as Greece, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Jordan, Armenia, Kuwait, Poland or Spain, among others have been selected. The festival received 130 works from 23 different countries, and the jury of the festival, made both or experts in the archaeological field and in the film business, have selected two productions by Explora Films as finalist as the best documentary film in Archaeology.
The selected titles are “The Celtic Legacy”, that deals with the Celtic culture in Galicia, in Northern Spain and “La Joya and the warriors in the mist”, a film about the mysteries around the Chachapoyas, an ancient Peruvian civilization that got extinct after the invasion of the Incas. The direction of both films has been undertaken by Jose Manuel Novoa, a well-experimented film director in the documentary field with more than 150 on his back and an important number of international awards and mentions.
“The Celtic Legacy” is a coproduction between Explora, RTVE and The History Channel Iberia and with the collaboration of Fundacion Ciudade da Cultura de Galicia and Xunta de Galicia.
“La Joya and the warriors in the mist” is a coproduction between Explora Films, RTVE and Chellomulticanal for Odisea.
