Explora Films will take part of this TV content market, one of the most important dates for the industry.
“Cuba, an Utopian Tropic” (2 x 52’), is a documentary mini-series which will take us to a different trip to the heart of The Antilles. The mainstream tourist offer usually takes us to beautiful beaches close to luxurious resorts or to popular diving areas. It is mainly focused on relaxation and sport. But Cuba is much more than this.
In the first episode we will travel to its villages to enjoy their landscapes and to meet its people to better know the peculiar story of this land and folks.
In the second episode we will explore the impressive wildlife of the island. We will go through its ecosystems, discover its virgin nature and explore the amazing flora and fauna which live under its surrounding warm seas.
The series “Last Hunters” (5 x 52’) will also be premiered in Cannes. This coproduction by Explora Films and the German company “Ma.ja.de” was commissioned by MDR and ARTE. The documentary series portrays the different traditional hunting methods used by five ethnic groups for their survival. An anthropological and magical approach to the relationship between humankind and nature.
“Wild Team” (1 x 52’) is the latest production of the Natural History Unit. Three armies are to fight the challenge of colonization of three different territories, isolated from the rest of the world. The success of their mission will change them forever.
Through different and singular protagonists (a sea iguana, a sifaka, a wallaby a gecko, a family of ring-tailed lemurs…) we will understand how Nature manages to colonize and evolve on islands. With this colonizing army we will accompany the ones in charge of recognising the new territory, the first ones to detect the new land.
During the showcase, several others new productions by Explora Films will also be presented, such as: “Tuareg, The Warriors of the Dunes” (1 x 52’), “Spirits of the Congo” (1 x 52’), “The Moche Route” (1 x 52’), and “World Bites” (A collection of programming fillers).
Besides, Explora Films will pitch a project in development about the life of the Basque artist Eduardo Chillida.
Carlos Sevillano, Head of Distribution, declared: “We premiere over ten hours of new productions about different genres at this MIPTV. All of them produced with the highest quality standards as usual. We hope to receive a warm welcome from broadcasters all over the world. We also hope to close important representation agreements of third parties who trust in our wide global commercial network”.
